The Lititz Rotary Club recognized Gavin Clausen as Student of the Month at their regular meeting on January 18, 2022, held at the Lititz Springs Inn & Spa. Gavin, a Warwick High School senior is the son of Cathleen and Jeffrey Clausen. Gavin is an academic high achiever and has demonstrated academic excellence during his time at Warwick. Each year in high school he has earned recognition on the Distinguished Honor Roll and currently ranks 2nd in his class academically. Gavin is a member of the National Honor Society and is the current membership chairperson for the society. He is also a member of the Spanish Honor Society. Gavin has been named a Carbon Scholar for 2021 and earned 2nd place in the Chemistry Division at the 2020 North Museum Science & Engineering Fair. As a high scorer on the PSAT/NMSQT, Gavin received Letters of Commendation in recognition of his outstanding academic promise. Commended Students are named based on a nationally applied Selection Index score. He also received the Eurofins Lancaster Laboratories Achievement in Analytical Chemistry Award. Additionally, Gavin received an AP Scholar with Distinction Award and in the Fall of 2021
earned Honors in the Pulse Program at the Hershey College of Medicine.
To exemplify the Rotary value of “Service Above Self”, Gavin volunteers with Warwick's Link Crew, a high school transition program in which leaders are positive role models and mentors who guide the freshmen to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to high school. He has served over 120 hours volunteering in the Emergency Room at UPMC Lititz and, during the summer of 2021, he volunteered on Wellspan’s Hope Squad.
 
In the Fall of 2021, Gavin served as a Teacher’s Assistant (TA) for Mrs. Roe’s Genetics class and then moved to a TA position for Mr. Balmer’s Chemistry Class. He will be able to serve as an advisor for the 10th grade science fair. Gavin served as a soccer referee with the U. S. Soccer Federation which referees local leagues and tournaments. He also recently received an EMT Certification and plans to ride with an ambulance crew at college. Additionally, Gavin competes on the Quiz Bowl Team at Warwick and enjoys playing basketball in the Lititz Rec League throughout the year.
 
Following high school, Gavin expects to attend a university and major in Biology and follow a PreMed course of study. He will also continue to be an active volunteer through which he is grateful to be able to serve others and develop relationships.
